The World Welcomes Alexander Joseph Ashley
He decided that waiting until the end of January was too far away, so out he came 5 weeks early and ready for action. We spent five days at the Bryn Mawr hospital with Alex in the NICU and Mollie recovering from a C-section. At least we didn't have to cook our own Christmas dinner :)
Alex was born 10 hours shy of being in the nursery, but the hospital's cut off meant that he had to spend enough time in the NICU for them to make sure he was healthy and strong. For one day Alex had an I-V and was in a heated incubator, after that he was free to spend time in his own crib without an I-V.
The little guy passed all his tests and it was great to be able to see him and spend time with him whenever we wanted. In the NICU they had a private room where we could feed and hang out with Alex away from all the other ones.
